According to the national standardGB 11893-89, it specifies that under neutral conditions, potassium persulfate is used to digest the sample, and all phosphorus is oxidized to orthophosphate; under acidic conditions, orthophosphate reacts with ammonium molybdate, and in the presence of antimony salt, phosphomolybdenum heteropoly acid is formed, which is immediately reduced by ascorbic acid to produce a blue complex, and the total phosphorus content is determined by spectrophotometry; at the same time,the standardHJ636-2012 specifies the determination of total nitrogen in water quality by alkaline potassium persulfate digestion UV spectrophotometry. The principle of the method is that under 120-124°C, alkaline potassium persulfate converts nitrogen-containing compounds in the sample into nitrate, and the total nitrogen content can be determined by UV-visible spectrophotometry. This instrument mainly refers to these two standards to achieve automated determination of total phosphorus and total nitrogen.
