Five water quality testing standards released and officially implemented next year

In order to further improve the ecological environment monitoring standard system, standardize ecological environment monitoring behaviors, improve the quality of environmental monitoring data, serve ecological environment supervision and law enforcement, promote ecological environment protection and protect human health, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment recently issued 5 national ecological environment standards. All five standards are related to water quality testing and are issued for the first time.

"Determination of 28 organophosphorus pesticides in water by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry" (HJ 1189-2021)

This standard specifies the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method for the determination of organophosphorus pesticides in water. It is applicable to the determination of 28 organophosphorus pesticides in surface water, groundwater, seawater, domestic sewage and industrial wastewater, including dichlorvos, mefenphos, systemic phosphite, ethophos, chlorpyrifos, phorate, terbufos, diazinon, chlorfenapyr, isothiocyanate, dimethoate, chlorpyrifos, methyl chlorpyrifos, phosphamidon, methyl parathion, chlorpyrifos, methyl parathion, malathion, parathion, bromophos, methyl isothion, isocarbophos, fenthion, profenofos, fenamiphos, triazophos, coumaphos and trichlorfon. This standard is applicable to many analysis objects and has good separation effect. It can support the implementation of water environment quality standards such as "Surface Water Environmental Quality Standard" (GB 3838-2002) and "Groundwater Quality Standard" (GB/T 14848-2017), and provide monitoring technical support for the formulation and revision of water pollutant emission standards for the pesticide industry and the refined management of enterprise pollutant emissions.

The standard will come into effect on April 1, 2022.

Identification of biological indicator for water sterilization (Bacillus subtilis var. niger) - Biological detection method (HJ 1190-2021)

This standard specifies the biological method for identifying sterilization biological indicators (black variant of Bacillus subtilis) in water. It is applicable to the evaluation of the sterilization effect of wastewater from microbiological laboratories. The release and implementation of this standard can support the biological detection of the sterilization effect of wastewater from microbiological laboratories, which is conducive to the implementation of the "Biosafety Law", strengthening biosafety risk prevention, and protecting the ecological environment.

The standard will come into effect on April 1, 2022.

"Water quality - Determination of azide - Spectrophotometric method" ( HJ 1191-2021)

This standard specifies the spectrophotometric method for the determination of azide in water, and is applicable to the determination of azide in surface water, groundwater, domestic sewage and industrial wastewater. Azide is highly toxic and dangerous. The release and implementation of this standard is conducive to the refined control of water pollutants discharged by related industries from azide, and plays an important role in protecting the ecological environment and safeguarding human health.

The standard will come into effect on April 1, 2022.

Determination of 9 alkylphenol compounds and bisphenol A in water by solid phase extraction/high performance liquid chromatography (HJ 1192-2021)

This standard specifies the high performance liquid chromatography method for the determination of alkylphenol compounds and bisphenol A in water. It is applicable to the determination of 9 alkylphenol compounds and bisphenol A, including 4-tert-butylphenol, 4-butylphenol, 4-pentylphenol, 4-hexylphenol, 4-heptylphenol, 4-octylphenol, 4-branched nonylphenol, 4-tert-octylphenol and 4-nonylphenol in surface water, groundwater, domestic sewage and industrial wastewater. It can support the implementation of water pollutant emission standards such as the "Petrochemical Industry Pollutant Emission Standard" (GB 31571-2015). Alkylphenol compounds and bisphenol A are typical endocrine disruptors with toxicity, persistence and bioaccumulation. my country has banned them from the production of related products and set limit indicators in the pollutant emission standards of related industries. The release and implementation of this standard will help strengthen the control of water pollutant emissions and provide monitoring method support for the pollution control of alkylphenol compounds and bisphenol A.

The standard will come into effect on April 1, 2022.

"Water quality - Determination of indium - Graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometry" (HJ 1193-2021)

This standard specifies the graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometric method for the determination of indium in water and is applicable to the determination of indium in surface water, groundwater and industrial wastewater. With the development of high-tech industries, the use of indium is becoming more and more widespread, and attention should be paid to the impact of indium-containing pollutants on the ecological environment. This standard has strong selectivity and high sensitivity, and the price of the instruments and equipment used and the analysis cost are relatively low. The release and implementation of this standard can provide technical support for the determination of indium in water pollutants in water environment and related industries.

The standard will come into effect on January 1, 2022.
